This is it…

9 03 2007

AUGH!  In 6 hours, we’ll OFFICIALLY be taking the stage for the FIRST time as MIGHTY J.   I mean, we’ve done tv and vidcast appearances (Overdrive Live, Beachwalks with Rox), but this is the FIRST time we’re performing with our full band!  Soooooo nerve-wrecking, but yet, soooooo exciting!

I KNOW we’ll bring the energy and positive vibes, but still, it’s crazy that our first gig is freakin’ 4 hours long.  Thanks to our Mighty Men for backing us up tonight:

Kalei Rapoza - Bass

Ka’imi Brede - Electric Guitar, Ukulele

Kapono Haynes Na’ili’ili (geez, i hope that’s how you spell it) - Drums, Percs

Matt Nakamoto - Keyboards

These guys came through for us! They came to the grueling rehearsals.  They learned all those darn songs.  They had to deal with us changing our minds, cutting songs out, or being indecisive about things.  But if we could work with any other musicians out there, we’d stick with these guys.

I hope you folks plan to check us out tonight.  If not… snooze you lose!!! :)

AND… what’s with me and the FBI??

The other night, Trey and I stopped by Kaneohe Market (ghettoville, for real).  It’s soooo ghetto, that they have a wall in the back of the store, facing the entrance that has ridiculous hats hanging on it.  I mean, if there’s an inch of room, they’ll fill it with something retarded.  I figured Trey and I were on the same page, so in a sarcastic tone (at least, I thought I was being sarcastic) I said to Trey, “Ho!  Try get me that FBI hat on the wall in there!”  I didn’t notice what was going on, but next thing I know, Trey walks up to my car with the freakin’ FBI hat in hand.  I COULDN’T believe it!  “It was a joke!  I don’t want that stupid hat!  Return it!”  I went frantic.  But Trey refused and thought I was SERIOUS.  Hello McFly?!!  ANYWAYS… he said that because I made him buy the hat, I HAD to wear it a Tiare’s tonight.  I sort of agreed cause I felt bad.  So…. if you see me with the hat on, NOW YOU KNOW.

Peace out homies,
j.

Project Nearly Done

6 03 2007

I thought I’d post a little blog about how things have been going with the recording. As many of you have probably realized by now, vidcasts haven’t been coming online as much as usual. We do have a few more in the can and as soon as time permits, you’ll see them here first. Over the past two weeks I’ve been in studio working heavily on the editing and mixing of Mighty J’s project. We’re up against a deadline, and every session counts, so please bear with us as we attempt to create a project that is like nothing you have ever heard before. In the meantime, if you need a Mighty J fix, they will be performing this Friday as I’m sure all blog readers know by now.

Also worth reporting: Jenn is FBI and it would appear as though her favorite stores are Home Depot, City Mill, and Times Supermarket.

Mai kali a niho a pau

5 03 2007

“Don’t wait for all of your teeth to fall out” That is an ‘olelo no’eau of old, Hawaiian proverb if you like.

I get to catch up on some sleep on Mondays, my mom comes to pick Ha’e up that’s why and I was supposed to go into the gym, but decided to curl up again in bed instead. However, all I dreamt this morning was my teeth falling out, a new transportation development that cut into mountains and waterfalls and heiau :(, taking my daughter to find pearls while sucking on clams, and yea, that’s it. It was weird. I cried heavily inside of my dream, o’h and I dreamt that my dad and I got into this big scrap, he turned into a maddman and we were moving, really fast. Man, those dreams in the morning, weird.

Anyhow, that ‘olelo no’eau, I have had often and its telling me that I have to do something right now, whatever it is, my greatest desire and do it, because if not, time will pass me by, time has no care in the world for the living. Maybe even for the dead, but -time is God. If I do not do it, if I don’t WAKE UP, I will one day end up an old lade, wahine, at the point where my teeth will actually begin to fall out and I will ask myself, “Was it good?” “Did I do everything I have ever wanted to do when I could?”.

Hopefully my honest, comfortable, and confinent answer is yes . And yours too.
M
