Warriors and public correction

30 12 2007

We just want to send a shout out to our Hawai’i Boys out there all the way in New Orleans, the people from Hawai’i, all 15,000 strong as well as other supporters, the O-line, the defense, and our prince Colt Brennan!!!!

We are so stoked, I can’t believe we are finally in a major realm of national athletic recognition. We’re rolling with the big dogs now. Some of my peers are betting on Georgia. How disappointing, but according to many of them, they feel its a strong bet.

I feel as if they were to loose this bet, they wouldn’t feel so bad about it, because Hawai’i winning means so much to us all! Even though our season wasn’t as competitive as other continental teams, this game continues to be a strong push for us and continues to once again put Hawai’i on the map. We can do it, I believe in these boys. This game just needs to be our game once we are out of the gates. Straight from the get go, we’re gonna have to be on fire! There truly is no room for error and these boys understand this and fully acknowledge that stealth, consistency, and fearlessness is what we need.

Go Bows!

Following up, I’d like to add I was wrong about the Sicko Teamsters. Sorry Teamsters. However, Times would like to pull back on the meat cutters’ medical and replace their positions with employees that do not fulfill the standard requirements to cut and store meat. In actuality, each of these deli hard working Times employees had to take a 2 year course which covered proper storage of meats, how to detect certain bacteria in meats, how to properly seal meats and I dunno I ‘m sure more…
But dude, that makes me not want to walk into Times for anything if they’re going to simply replace their workers with some kids who did not complete standard requirements set up by them! AND, the meat, how can we trust that it will not make us sick or my kid sick? YIKES…

So, Times, just give them back their medical and to a test run check of workers you think are abusing their medical, its that simple.

And Tiks, congratulations, we’ll be there to help you move in!

Mahalo,

Mai

On the verge of a house …

21 12 2007

Wow its been a mighty interesting 2007 … lots and lots of clarity and change … We released our album in June and we’re still hanging in there pushing for the new wave as G3 says … its a MighTy J Revolution!!! We’re busy alright … with life, work, family, the holidays and for myself my own home all by my lonesome. I’m stressed! Very stressed! But … its ok thats part of growing up. Did I really say that? Yeah! guess so.

House hunting has been trying … dealing with numbers, budgets, offers, down payment, loans, escrow, inspections, closing costs, insurance, association fees, a billion other fees, necessities versus wants! Just looking for a place took eons!!! Is it a place i’m gonna live in forever, for the next 10 years, 20 years, use later just as an investment, whats the neighborhood like, whats the resale value? Bleh! But I’m not giving up! Man … got papers to sign, fax, mail back, email, checks to write out blah blah blah and I feel like I’m signing my life away. Is it the right thing?? Well, 85% of me says yes the other 15% is crying cause my lifestyle will definitely need to change (no more late night partying or fine dining or buying things on a whim). Props to Mai for owning her piece of paradise! I envy her and her gusto. Lucky girl! So if you see me and I look like I went through hell and back .. .you’re probably right cause sleep is a hot commodity for me! Nightmares or dreams … YIKES!

Anyway … here’s a cool tip … found a cool site off MSN Money … Wesabe.com. Its cool to help work out your spending, earning and overall finances to help you budget.

Peace out homies …

Sicko Teamsters

17 12 2007

The Deli Department of Times Super Market throughout Hawai’i is on strike because of the Hawai’i Teamsters (local union) cutting their medical.  This is what I’ve been told.  However, the deli meat cutters of Times would appreciate it if customers shop at Safeway, Foodland, anywhere else but Times.

My question is if its union and they are responsible for the cutbacks on medical insurance, then what difference does it make whether or not customers shop anywhere else?  I misunderstand the whole scenario…

However, I’d like to support the strike because these members haven’t even asked for a raise, all they want is medical insurance which is justly due to anyone who works a full time job, even part timers receive medical insurance.  So no matter how much I love Times because I do, I like supporting local businesses even if at times its 50 cents more here and there.  I will now shop at other markets, mahalo!

AND, unions, wow!

M.

Honolulu City Lights…

Honolulu City Lights '07MTJ Performing in Honolulu Hale for Honolulu City Lights ConcertMTJ with Ponz, Will, Kanoa and the 3 guards

This past Wednesday, we were delighted to perform at Honolulu Hale as part of the “2007 Honolulu City Lights Concert” series. We brought new toy donations for the Toys for Tots campaign and entertained the families enjoying the beautiful, decorated christmas tree display. If you haven’t gotten down to view the city lights this year, I highly recommend you bring the family to view Christmas in Hawaii.

Special thanks to: Kanoa of Gomega for sharing his talents, Ipo, Virgil with Toys for Tots, Honolulu Hale, Mufi Hannemann, Linda Lingle, City and County of Honolulu.

Happy Holidays from MighTy J!!!

Kanoa of Gomega

9 12 2007

On that note of change, there is an artist that will be in town that I suggest you all come and see if you’re on the island. Not only is Kanoa our dear friend and confidant, but he is a bad ass when it comes to music. Truly, we haven’t seen anyone his age or within this generation that can play anything and this boy throws down. Rock, Folk, Hawaiian, Reggae, Ragtime, Jazz, you name it, Ska, he does it. We love Gomega because of how diverse this band is and how they push other musicians to be better than they can be everyday in all areas of being a performer, lyricist, singer, musician. He also has a sexy cute keyboard player ~ Cody…

So come on down because Mighty J and Kanoa of Gomega will be there rawkin’ it out!!!!!

When: Dec. 14th 9pm-1am
Where: Tropics (near Farmer’s Market on Ward)

We’d also like to send some love to Ipo, Cody, Hekili, House, Joey, Matt, Will, and all of you Maui boys that came to see Mighty J when we were in Lahaina! If you all want to truly see a musician shred and do something nice and sweet, if you wanna skank with us, enjoy party party, if you want to hula, Kanoa will reach into his black bowler hat and pull out ANYTHING you want, so be there or be square!
