Busy Weekend

22 05 2008

So this past weekend was a blast.  We had a long but very fun gig at Lily Koi on Saturday and a really great performance at the Hawaii Book and Music Festival on Sunday.

The crowd at Lily Koi was awesome.  They were very supportive and diggin’ our music.  I wanted to thank both Sol (Mai’s brother) and Shawn Ishimoto for playing with us that night.   They did great and held it down with our boys Matty on the keys and Will on Bass. It was awesome cause it wasn’t our best ever performance but we did really well.  Mai, Jenn and I just got into a really good groove and we rode each other’s musical wave the whole night.  I also wanted to say thanks to ZZ for always helping us with our sound. It was a nice surprise to see some of My co-workers from Oceanic kickin’ it there too.  They all had fun (from what they told me when I went back to work) and they loved the music as well.

As for Sunday’s performance … another great one.  The event held at the Honolulu Hale drew a really nice group of people that were there to stimulate their bellies and minds with good food, new reading material, story telling, and of course music.  Such an interesting mix of people  young and old (ok not old … older) who sat contently in their lawn chairs and mats as mighty J music filled the air…. we’re just grateful that we’ve had this 2nd opportunity to play at this annual event that just keeps getting bigger and better…

:)
